![]() In 1901, Butch fled to South America with Sundance, travelling to Argentina and ultimately on to Chile and Bolivia. The gang enjoyed immense success with train robberies, until they came to the attention of the Pinkerton Agency. He would go on to recruit Harry Alonzo Longabaugh – the Sundance Kid. Around 1896, Butch formed the Wild Bunch along with a group of his friends. He began a life of crime by stealing a pair of jeans, and quickly moved to larger-scale robberies. Robert LeRoy Parker, better known as Butch Cassidy, was born in 1866 in Beaver, Utah, the eldest of 13 children in a Mormon English immigrant family. Garrett later wrote a book called The Authentic Life of Billy, the Kid. ![]() The Kid died on 14 July 1881 in a shootout with the sheri , who then collected the bounty of 00. He was sentenced to death, only to escape, killing both of his guards in the process, and remain on the run for two months until Garrett tracked him down again at Fort Sumner. Sheriff Pat Garrett captured the Kid in December 1880. Grant had allegedly come after him, but after the Kid asked to admire his would-be assassin’s gun and surreptitiously ensured it wouldn’t fire, he shot him first. Accused and later convicted of killing Lincoln County sheriff William J Brady during the conflict, the Kid remained at large for some time and famously shot and killed Joe Grant at Hargrove’s Saloon in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Then after some cattle rustling, he took part in a violent feud known as the Lincoln County War in New Mexico, in which he sided and fought with a gang called the Regulators. He had become a fugitive after shooting dead a blacksmith who had been bullying him in a bar fight. By the time of his death at the age of 21, he is reputed to have killed eight men. William H Bonney, who also went by the name Henry McCarty – but will always be best remembered as Billy the Kid – had a short career as an outlaw.

![]() We looked it up online the listing says it’s a forty-two inch brown door sweep. ![]() Dick finally found somebody to look up the part number – 91191. It felt like Dick was on the phone with Jeld-Wen for an hour, but my phone says the call lasted eighteen minutes and forty-two seconds. And then they transferred him to a fourth person, who told Dick that Jeld-Wen doesn’t sell replacement forty-two inch door sweeps. The Jeld-Wen lady transferred Dick to somebody else, who transferred him to somebody else, who transferred him to somebody else, who suggested I should look on the Jeld-Wen website instead of calling. This might come in handy next time I have to go fifteen rounds with a manufacturer. I learned my local Home Depot is store number 2813. She said Jeld-Wen doesn’t give part numbers to homeowners, and so I offered to put Dick on the phone. I told her I had no clue, but needed a replacement door sweep. The first question the lady who answered asked me was, what was my store number. My only choice – order a replacement from Jeld-Wen.ĭick at Home Depot looked up Jeld-Wen’s phone number and suggested I call them. ![]() Forty-two inches is an unusual size and nobody carries them. Total time without a front door should be only a few minutes.Īnd that was when I realized Jeld-Wen had sent me a thirty-six inch door sweep for our forty-two inch door.įortunately, I live about five minutes away from the nearest Home Depot store. Lay the door on a couple of sawhorses, peel off the old sweep, insert the new door sweep, and put the door back on its hinges. And on a sunny October 19, 2021, when the high temp topped 70 degrees F for probably the last time in 2021, it was time to replace it. I milked everything I could get out of that original door sweep, warranty replacement in-hand, but by 2021, it was shot. I called Home Depot, Home Depot called Jeld-Wen, and Jeld-Wen sent a warranty replacement door sweep. The bottom door sweep had a bunch of soft plastic fins, and as inside warm air met outside cold air through that first Minnesota winter, ice stuck those fins to the threshold below them and tore some of them off. It started in October, 2015, when I installed a new front door. ![]() I want to thank Dick at my local Home Depot store for navigating through it. It turned into a Jeld-Wen bureaucratic struggle rivaling any DMV horror story.

Many of the security exploitations Apple is protecting us against in Catalina essentially look very much the same as what your typical DAW needs to carry out when accessing external software (third-party effects, instruments, and tools, etc).įor example, something like the popular KONTAKT sampler from Native Instruments will need to play nice with these new permissions in order to properly access library files and the like. Just running Logic Pro on Catalina won’t necessarily be a problem, it’s the rest of that third-party gear you need to watch out for. More specifically, but without getting overly technical, there are integral changes being made to the way software can access certain information and the way permissions and installers work.Īlthough Apple has relaxed some of the notarization requirements for developers, it could still very well cause longer than usual update delays for the third-party FX and instruments you use every day in LPX. Updating to Apple’s latest operating system too soon can yield all sorts of issues with your Logic Pro X projects using third-party gear, so be sure to hit the jump for more details.Īlong with removing support for 32-bit code, tightened security measures in Catalina will also force third-party software makers to dig in a little deeper when preparing for Apple’s latest operating system. Home music producers beware as this update could very well silence your latest masterpieces if you’re not careful. While the imminent release of the latest macOS is upon us, there are some things to be aware of when it comes to running Logic Pro on Catalina. Carbon has 4 valence electrons, which allows it to form strong covalent bonds with other atoms, including other carbon atoms, hydrogen, oxygen, and many other elements. The number of electrons in an atom determines its chemical behavior and its ability to bond with other atoms. Why is the number of electrons important for carbon? The 1s orbital contains 2 electrons, while the 2s and 2p orbitals can hold up to 4 electrons. In a neutral atom, the number of electrons is equal to the number of protons.Ĭarbon’s electrons are arranged in different atomic orbitals, specifically in the 1s, 2s, and 2p orbitals. How many electrons does a carbon atom have?Ĭarbon has 6 electrons because its atomic number is 6, which means it has 6 protons in its nucleus. The electronic configuration of carbon is 2, 4.The electronic configuration can also be written as 2s 2 2p 2, which indicates that carbon’s electron configuration is the same as the noble gas helium’s configuration in its filled 1s orbital. The remaining two electrons are in the 2p subshell, with one electron each in two of the three available 2p orbitals (2px and 2py). In the case of carbon, the first two electrons occupy the 1s subshell, while the next two occupy the 2s subshell. The second energy level (n=2) can hold up to 8 electrons, which are distributed between the 2s and 2p subshells. In general, the first energy level (principal quantum number n=1) can hold up to 2 electrons, which occupy the 1s subshell. This means that a carbon atom has 6 electrons distributed among its various atomic orbitals. The electronic configuration of carbon is 1s 2 2s 2 2p 2. However, in some chemical reactions, carbon can lose or gain electrons, which can result in a positively or negatively charged ion.Īlso Read: Structure of an Atom 3. ![]() In a stable carbon atom, the number of protons (positive charges) is equal to the number of electrons (negative charges), which results in a neutral charge for the atom. It is a non-metallic element that is essential to all known forms of life, as it is a key component of organic molecules such as proteins, DNA, and carbohydrates.Ĭarbon is unique in its ability to form long chains and complex structures, which allows it to participate in an almost infinite number of chemical reactions. This is probably the ideal solution, second only to having the OS support such a thing directly. If you use the Mac Spaces feature, to create multiple desktops on a single monitor, are you seeing apps appear on the wrong desktops? I'm afraid I don't know MacOS well enough to say if a similar utility exists. For Windows, there is a program called ShiftWindow that can reposition windows either on application startup or on a certain hot-key. Then you can quit the single-monitor instance (saving that state), and then the multi-monitor instance (overwriting the single-monitor state).Ī more complex option might include figuring out where the state is saved, backing it up, and writing a batch file / script to restore it before opening the application, which would allow you to make a link to do this automatically when you start the application.įinally, there may be such a utility for your platform, or writing one might not be too complex. Don't close this instance before plugging the second monitor in again and starting another instance (which would then read the multi-monitor configuration on startup). If you have a second instance running, it should be repositioned onto the main monitor, or you can start another instance. Close the multi-monitor instance (which causes the state to be saved). You can take advantage of applications which allow more than one instance to be open at a time, but only save state on close. Applications generally save their state (including window placement) when they close, and read it when they open, so if the second monitor is present at both of those times you should be fine. Works great!īefore you unplug the monitor, close everything that's not entirely on the main monitor. One of the coolest things about Slate is that you can define different layouts based on how many monitors you have connected. You can define custom positions and sizes for all of your applications, including full screen, half screen, and grid-based. When you plug in your secondary monitor, it automatically detects the new monitor, and all of your windows will be moved and resized just the way you like them.
